Biography

My name is Duy P. Nguyen (Jay), currently a M.Sc. student in Global Environmental Economics at the University of Galway, Ireland. Previously, I am a researcher and consultant specialising in agrifood and environmental economics in the Mekong Delta region of Vietnam. I have 6+ years of experience working across academia, business chamber, and public research institution.

Agri-Food Economics: Food choice, food consumption, agri-food value chains.
Environmental Economics: ESG, economics of climate resilience & adaptation, economic valuation of environmental externalities, circular economy.
Urban Studies: Urban development, ecosystem services in cities.

[Apr. 2025] Duy will be studying M.Sc. Global Environmental Economics at the University of Galway, Ireland as a Candidate of the Ireland Fellows Programme - Asia from September, 2025.
[Jan. 2025] Duy has been selected as a finalist of the Young Southeast Asia Leaders Initiative - Professional Fellows Program 2025, under the Sustainability and the Environment theme.
[Jul. 2024] Our policy brief was published in the Asia Brief of La Trobe University (Australia), “Vietnam's online platform workers.”
[Apr. 2024] Duy completed a short training course on “Regional development and economic activation” with the Best Action Plan Award, held by International Urban Training Center (IUTC) and UN-Habitat in Korea.
[Feb 2024] My co-authored article was featured in the Asia Rising of La Trobe University (Australia), “Reducing Vietnam's GHG Emissions.”
[May. 2023] Our paper was accepted for publication in Transportation, which was indexed in SSCI, SCIE, and ABDC-A.
[Jul. 2019] Duy participated in the Vietnam School of Science '07, held by the International Centre for Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICISE), Vietnam.
